Our History
In 2001, local businessman Mark Zoske started a family business that would one day become America's Sea Salt Company. Thus, SaltWorks was born.

Unmatched salt quality
Our safety and quality standards are upheld and maintained to the highest degree throughout each process. These strict measures result in the cleanest, highest quality salt available.
Sourcing
Sea salts have traditionally been hand-harvested by directing seawater into shallow ponds or saltmarshes, then left to naturally evaporate by the sun and wind, leaving behind mineral-rich sea salt. SaltWorks sources sea salt from Antarctic currents off the coast of Australia, where cold undercurrents create spotless salt.
Mineral salts, such as Himalayan pink salts, are mined from the earth. This natural phenomenon results from ancient ocean evaporation that has left salt veins deep under mountain ranges in Pakistan.
Processing
After ocean and mine harvesting, our salts are sieved to remove imperfections and foreign matter, then visually inspected, aspirated, and rare earth magnets remove all naturally present metals.
Perfecting
Most salt manufacturers stop here, when the salt is suitable for consumption. SaltWorks uses proprietary Optically Clean Technology, finding and removing any unwanted material with cameras and targeted bursts of air. The pure salt that remains is then put through a final metal detection process and a human eye inspection before being packaged, palletized, and shipped to our satisfied customers.
Food Safety Certified
SaltWorks® is SQF certified and has been rated “excellent” since 2014 from an independent and accredited third party. In addition, SaltWorks’ locations also practice GMP and HACCP protocols.
Sustainability & Ethics
As a member of Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), we are committed to ethical sourcing. Our suppliers are FDA regulated and comply with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010, requiring fair wages for all employees and no child or slave labor, at every SaltWorks location.
Optically Clean® Technology
Optically Clean® Technology utilizes a combination of sifters, aspirators, rare-earth magnets and metal detectors to inspect every single grain of salt for discoloration or unwanted foreign material.
ORTHODOX UNION
The Orthodox Union has the most trusted kosher certification in the United States. All SaltWorks Pure Ocean, Pacific Blue Flake, and Ancient Ocean Himalayan salts are OU certified.
